Baked Macaroni and Cheese

Ingredients

Sauce:

  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 tablespoons flour
  • 1/2 onion, minced
  • 3 cups milk
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon thyme
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon grated nutmeg

Instructions

Sauce:

  1. In sauce pan, saute oil, flour, and onions
  2. Add milk slowly, stirring continuously
  3. Add spices
  4. Cook and stir until it starts to thicken 

Casserole:

  • sauce (from above)
  • 1 poind mostaccioli or penne noodles
  • 4 ounces parmesan cheese, grated
  • 3/4 pound fontina cheese, grated
  • 1 cup bread crumbs

Casserole:

  1. Oven: 350
  2. Cook noodles in boiling water (10 minutes)
  3. Drain noodles
  4. Mix noodles, sauce, and cheese
  5. Put mixture in casserole dish
  6. Bake for 30 minutes.
